Christi and Stephen | A Great Gatsby Wedding at The Granary

Another wedding, and another absolutely beautiful couple! When I say that I have been so blessed to work with the best couples, I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart, and Christi and Stephen are no exception!

I love everything about these two, including their fateful story about how they met! When I first spoke with Christi, she said it would very much be a “north meets the south” affair, since Stephen is from Brooklyn, New York and Christi grew up in the Shenandoah Valley. I’ve included this little excerpt from their wedding website about their love story because it’s too cute, just like them!

“Having skillfully crafted their Match.com profiles, they stumbled across one another and were instantly intrigued. They quickly shared their likes and dislikes. He likes the Yankees, she likes the Nationals. He likes the Jets, she likes the Redskins (both equally doomed here). He grew up taking the subway to high school, she took the big, yellow bus to school. He said “yous guys”, she said “ya’ll”. He likes dogs, she has a cat. A few things that they did have in common is their love of God, their families, friends, and their desire to find someone to spend the rest of their lives with.

After a few weeks of chatting, they determined that neither seemed like a serial killer or stage five clinger. They decided to meet for a first date. This date was at Chef Geoff’s in Tysons Corner. They had dinner and chatted until midnight. Stephen walked Christi to her car and knew he wanted to see her again. Immediately, Stephen locked in a second date for the next morning (brunch and a matinee). The rest, as they say, is history.”

Isn’t that so sweet?!

And on top of their sweet story, I was thrilled about their vision for their wedding day! When Christi shared her plans for a Great Gatsby themed affair, my heart skipped a beat! She described all of the glitz and glam — like her incredible feather centerpieces and rose gold sequin tablecloths (give me all the heart eye emojis here) — she had planned for this big party and I knew it would be a roaring good time! While it’s impossible to pick just a few favorite images by J. Ellis Photography from their wedding day, I’ve included some of my favorite moments and details from their November wedding below! If it isn’t already clear, I adore these two and felt so honored to be a small part of their big party!

I loved *everything* about Christi’s bridal details! So glam, so Gatsby!

Christi’s dress was absolutely perfect for a Gatsby-themed wedding!

And those beautiful Badgely Mischka bridal shoes?! Like I said — Christi’s taste is stunning!

Isn’t she GORGEOUS, y’all?!

Love these shots of Stephen getting ready with his family!

Christi and Stephen’s ceremony took place at the beautiful Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg, VA.

No joke — seeing Christi in her bridal gown took my breath away! She was such a stunning bride!

My absolute favorite part of any wedding ceremony is watching the groom’s reaction to his bride walking down the aisle. Stephen did not disappoint! *Cue the ugly crying!*

They’re married!

We moved the party to The Granary at Valley Pike Market for the reception! I adore these portraits of Christi and Stephen in The Granary’s beautiful bridal suite!

This one is a favorite! So happy!

Again, Christi’s taste is phenomenal! And when she told me she had rose gold sequin tablecloths for the guest tables, y’all know I was IN! Plus, this decor coupled with such a beautiful reception venue was a dream!

So many great details and event signage, like this “Need a drink, dollface?” and prohibition-era black and white photos that were displayed throughout the venue!

Beautiful cake display by Buttercream Dreams, LLC!

Such a sweet first dance under the bistro lighting!

Christi and Stephen, thank y’all again for allowing me to be a part of your absolutely beautiful wedding day! Wishing you both many, many years of love, laughter, and happily ever after!
