Hi, friends and Happy Monday! Now, to those who know a little about me, it’s safe to say that I have an affinity (or obsession?) for all things Disney, right? I take the opportunity to spread a little pixie dust and Disney magic whenever I possibly can, have earned the infamous nickname of “Princess” by my family members (although said with a bit of sarcasm because I may take the name a little too literally ;|), and think the world revolves around that sweet mouse – you know, just to name a few things. Simply put, my love for The Walt Disney Company empire is a huge part of who I am, and let me try to tell you why!
While I love squeezing Mickey at Magic Kingdom or purchasing any Disney Parks promotional item that has his adorable face on it, Mickey, to me, is so much more than just a character. He’s a feeling. He’s an experience. And for those reasons, he has completely changed my life. Now, there is a woman who – dare I say – loves Disney and that cute mouse more than I do, and is the person responsible for making me such a #disnerd. That woman is my Momma, and she raised me on the ideas of following your heart, dreaming big and believing in the magic of Walt Disney. Yes, I’ve been to Walt Disney World more than I’d like to admit. Wait! You know what? I’m proud to say I’ve been there over 100 times, worked there as a cast member during my time in the Disney College Program, and treat every visit just like it’s my first. But for us, WDW isn’t so much about the rides or all of the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars you can eat (even though they’re all a HUGE plus)! Going to Disney World is about the experience; feeling the feeling Walt wanted every guest to know as they walk down Main Street USA and see Cinderella Castle for the first (or 100th) time. It’s about the storytelling. It’s about dreaming – big and often, and doing something to make those dreams happen. It’s about the magic his vision brings to that incredible feeling in your heart, and his desire to make the world a happier place than how he found it.
I am so incredibly passionate about this incredible man’s heart and vision for the world he lived in. I can’t begin to tell you how much of a sincere honor it was to be a cast member during my time in the Disney College Program, and how humbling it was to continue Walt’s legacy by creating magic for hundreds of guests on a daily basis. I know that experience is one I will cherish for the rest of my life and is one I am committed to practice and implement forever, no matter where life may take me. But my biggest dream? Making those inspiring ideals shine through my business. Making wedding planning less stressful so my brides and grooms can be completely present and feel the magic during one of the happiest times of their lives. At Brooke Shehan Events, my goal is to create nothing short of a magical experience.
I often hear other Disney lovers say, “Oh – loving Disney is something you can’t really put into words” and I couldn’t agree more! Disney magic is just something you feel. But since it’s currently impossible for me to live in Cinderella Castle, finding the magic in my life every day is something I try to do always and often. Believe me, it’s definitely there just as much in the little moments if you take the time to appreciate it. So, I’m excited to introduce a brand-new series to the BSE Blog: Magical Moments! I think it’s so important for us to appreciate every second of this crazy life we have, and this blog series will be a look into those personal, magical moments that I know I will cherish forever.
So, join me and follow along for an extra dose of magic to kick off your week, friends! And don’t forget to tell me about your magical moments, too. Coming up soon? A look into our very first Mother/Daughter trip to Disney World! Reliving an amazing week with the woman who has always encouraged me to listen to my heart and follow my dreams seemed like the perfect way to officially kick-off this fun, new series. 🙂
See ya real soon, y’all!
Brooke
