my philosophy

Jonni & John | A King Family Vineyards June Wedding

Let me just start by saying how thankful I am to be writing this blog post. I was in the process of preparing to launch my own wedding planning business when I received an inquiry from Jonni. From her very first message, Jonni’s sweet personality shined through; she was thoughtful, kind, and considerate, and on top of all of that, I immediately noticed her @vt.edu email and LOVED that she was a fellow Hokie! (Seriously, y’all – my Hokie pride is a very serious matter.) So from the very beginning, I felt an instant connection with Jonni and knew that it would not only be an honor, but a dream to work with her. And when I received that email that said she wanted to move forward, I cried some happy tears and was so thankful that she was willing to take a chance on a girl with a dream to start a business and plan weddings. (And I may or may not be happy crying again as I finish this sentence!)

I worked with Jonni and John for over a year and cannot reiterate how much I loved every second of being a small part of their wedding day. Throughout the last year, both Jonni and John were so intentional about making me feel included every step of the way, and I looked forward to every site visit, FaceTime chat, and chance I had to see (and hug) them! I can tell y’all one thing, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect couple to be my very first bride and groom since officially launching Brooke Shehan Events!

And just like my experience working with Jonni and John, their wedding at King Family Vineyards on June 4 was an absolute dream! From the incredibly stunning venue, to the breathtaking florals, to the delicious food, to the awesome photographs, everything came together so perfectly and I couldn’t be happier! Jonni & John probably thanked me 100 times that day and to me, that’s everything. I stood back many times that day to watch their complete happiness, joy, and love for one another and it was beautiful to witness. I could go on and on about these two forever, y’all! As happy as I am that they loved their wedding day, I have to selfishly admit that I’m so sad it’s over because I miss them already! (I may or may not have texted Jonni this very thing a few days after their wedding day! I’m also so glad to hear the feelings were reciprocated 😉 – haha!)

Mr. and Mrs. Reuther, I wish you nothing but love and laughter for your happily ever after! Happy One Month Anniversary and here’s to many, many more! Here’s a look at just a few of my favorite images and moments from their wedding day, beautifully captured by Kathy Jennings Photography
